Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew Walking Tour

Sunday, June 5th, 2011

Bangkok never failed to amaze me one more time.

Right after my cruise at the river, I headed to one of Bangkoks top tourist destination - Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew located just beside Wat Pho temple where the Giant Reclining Buddha is found. The Palaces’ complex holds an important piece in Thai culture because it posssesed the countrys’ most revered Buddha image. It is astoundingly beautiful and the place that every tourist should not miss.

However, be aware of some touts claiming that the Palace is closed because they would just trap you to some of Bangkoks souvenier shops. The truth is, the Palace is open everyday except on very important royal activities. Make sure to dress up appropriately, wearing of shorts and revealing clothes is prohibited however, there is a clothes rental for tourist who weren’t informed about this. A refundable 200BAHT is collected at the entrance to change clothing. Also an extra 350BAHT is charged for admission fee.

The adventure starts here. I was so astounded by the beautiful golden temple, it feels Im one of the royalties. Shimmering gold shines brilliantly especially during the hot day.

If you want to know more about the temple, you can hire english speaking guides near the entrance or you can just buy a map in the tourist counter inside. As for me, pictures will do.
