G12 Discipleship

Friday, May 28th, 2010

If it not were for G12, I would not have met new friends. Being a worker of God is such a lot of fun. Church should not be boring at all, it must be very dynamic as the Word. From Youth Reload, to PEPSOL to Encounter, everything is worth it. Who says’ Gods people can’t party? We party like no other.

Air Philsexpress Inflight snack

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Air Philsexpress’ new business model seems to be very effective, in no time, they will beat its closest rival, Cebu Pacific in the budget carriers competition and the real winners are the flying public. Tougher competition means more low fares for us.At the moment, they don’t fly to Davao but someday hopefullyby late this year, they will extend their routes here in Davao. I can’t wait to board with them.

For the meantime, take a view on their Inflight Meals menu, as expected, it’ll be overpriced.Lol.

Macau Quick Tour

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Due to its close proximity to Hong Kong, we decided to spend a quick day trip to Macau. The trip runs approximately in 1 hour on a very comfortable fast watercraft. The trip returns to Macau at 11:00pm so we have plenty of time to roam around the former Portuguese colony.

We visited the famous Senado Square where the old Victorian style buildings are located. This is also the starting point to see the symbol of Macau- The Ruins of St. Paul. The square is a haven for tourists, it has old traditional shops and modern boutique stores.

Mcdonalds Cokefloat

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Who loves this drink (or food) from McDonalds?

mcdonalds cokefloat

At first, I do not like this because I find the taste weird, a refreshing coke combined with a soft sundae icecream topped with chocolate syrup eventually makes you even more thirstier but these days, it seems I had a change of tastebuds.

Should Exchanges in Shifts be Limited?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

DTR,DTR

In the early years of our nursing career, we have been trained to adapt to different schedules to suit our mainstream academic schedules to our hospital exposure as part of the curriculum. It is a standard to follow the 8 hours shifting schedules; morning (7-3), afternoon (3-11) or graveyard (11-7). Today, becoming a professional nurse, it still practiced to have a rotating schedules to ensure that services are offered 24/7 and to see to it that nurses are in tip-top condition to work as its life that we are dealing with.

As practiced in our institution, nurses are bound on a fixed number of duty days especially for contractual wherein they will work for 22 days in a month or 176 hours in other words, a total of 8 days Off per month. However, the number of working days can be lessened and the number of day off can be increased provided that you will work in a particular day for 16 hous when another party agrees to defer his work for that day and he will also agree to work in 16hours on the following selected dates. This scenario is called “Exchange in Duties”.

The main reasons for shift exchanges are personal matters, attending an affair, not feeling well or to extend holiday or off days. For example, my Off days is 3 days but I felt its not enough so I look for a subsitute who can work for me in behalf the following day.

However, many supervisors and seniors impose to limit the number of shift exchanges. They argue that its unfavorable because a 16 hours of duty can be so tiresome and in long run might affect the general health. Yes, it can be very tiring sometimes especially when that day will be jumpacked with volume of patients. In addition, some say that having off days more than 3 is a violation of Civil Service rules and regulations thats why limitations of exchanges should be strictly implemented.

Anxious over IELTS

ielts Pictures, Images and Photos

Over the past 3 weeks, I have been very busy with my reviews on the IELTS exam. This will be my third time taking the it and hopefully I shall have a band score of 7 in all components of the exam (Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking).

As you can see, I received some comments regarding my articles, at first, they praise me for what I have wrote but they also remind me to mind some few grammatical errors and sentence construction. I  believe the hardest thing for me in the actual test is the writing part, it is where my biggest anxiety falls because it seems I don’t some words to fill in and doesn’t have enough ideas to form. However, I put my trust to God this time, I pray that its His hands that will write for me this coming May 20th at Marco Polo.

By the way, I’m reviewing at The Study Aide Avenue (TSAA), the biggest IELTS review center in Mindanao. I must say that the staffs are very friendly, accommodating and willing to extend help to us. They have a wide range of review materials and flexible schedules at an affordable cost. Best of all, the professors are top-notch. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city, near University of Mindanao Bolton Campus along Ponciano Street. You can contact them through their website www.tsaaphilippines.com

Philippine Election 2010 results

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Photobucket

This is really nerve racking, my friends on the phone are sending me the partial and unofficial results of the election. I bet that candidates are having a hard time sleeping tonight or better yet they will stay overnight to watch the results. It is expected that by tonight majority of votes will be tallied and results will likely most to come up. Let us continue to pray for the Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Election (HOPE).

Here are some websites that would monitor partial and unofficial results to the elections.

Election Day

Today marks a very historical moment for the Filipino people as this is the first election in the nation that is fully automated. Since time immemorial, the Filipino’s used to vote like primitive casting out vote on a paper and manually counted thereafter however things have changed right now as practicing our right of suffrage has become easier than ever.

I placed my vote in my hometown in Kidapawan and as observed, it is generally more peaceful and calm unlike the last national election where people are so packed. Many people complained about long lines but I believe that people should also make their part in this election, lines were just like you are waiting for your drivers license to come, or paying a bill in a department stores. It is just a small sacrifice that we have to endure for our country.

I congratulate all the teachers and the volunteers right now to make this election happen. I was blessed in our precinct because I felt that I am just lining just in a bank. It was very systematic and organized. The PCOS machine were working perfectly fine.

Shakey’s Monster Meal

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Photobucket

It was a night of celebration when me and my spiritual dad decided to have a gastronomic feast to thank our Toolbox Hammers network (clan) about our recent promotion at work for their prayers to us. We decided to order Shakey’s Monster Meal thats good for 12 although we were only 8 in the but thats fine because we were all men in the group. The meal comprised of 2 pasta, 2 family sized pizza, 12 friend chicken, mojo and 3 liters of softdrink, we were just so hungry and excited about the menu and we forgot to take photo of the foods. Overall, the night was a tummyfiller, I thank God for the fellowship, the bonding moments we have as brothers for Christ.

(Sorry for the low quality pictures, its taken from a mobile phone)

Im so blessed by these people above. We call ourselves TOOLBOX because we are Gods tools here on earth. We possess different talents, like dancing, evangelism, music to draw more people to God. Listen to what the Bible says, “There are different spiritual gifts, but the same is the source of them all” (1 Cor 12:7). There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.”

If I needed to tighten a screw in my glasses, would this hammer help? Would this great big screwdriver help? No, I would need this little tiny screwdriver. You see, it doesn’t matter what your talent is and it doesn’t matter if you are big or small. What does matter is that when God has a job for you to do, you need to be right there in His toolbox, ready and willing for Him to use you.

Look around you. See this house of worship? It is God’s toolbox. Look at all the people in this room. They are God’s tools. Each one ready and willing for God to use them to do his work in this community.
