2009 Year ender!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

2009 is almost over, well in some countries, New Year has just started, its 2010 in some parts of the world. Before, we end 2009 here in the Philippines, I can truly say that 2009 was the best year of my life. First of all, its because this year I became a Christian and had an encounter with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s the best thing that happened to me, I have grown a personal relationship with God like I never did before. I thought my Christianity was okay all along but God had planned our rendezvous together. Ofcourse, I would like to thank my G12 and Buhangin Community Church family for this moment that I would really cherish forever. Thanks to my cell leader, Eddred for bringing me to church.

Being with God fills the emptiness in my heart. Its the opportunity to be with him and to know him more as I walk with him everyday of my life. I’m overjoyed that God loved me alot even though Im such a sinner and disobeyed him for many times. I would have not recognized this until I went back to the cross. The blood of Jesus saved me. Like everyday is a battle, sometimes, I fell on the soil as I walk to the finish line, but I will never stop and will finish the race. Photobucket

Secondly, 2009 opened alot of doors for me, this year was my most travelled year, I enjoyed the sights and sounds of the country from North to South. Almost every month, I have been a jetsetter, being able to explore fascinating Ilocos Norte, got awed by the beautiful sceneries in Central Visayas, sun burned by the beautiful beaches of Negros, mystified by the island of Siquijor so on.

I also went to Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau this year. Whats great about it was my mom and I travelled together this time in HK and Macau. Finally, she had a break from her busy schedule as a teacher and a businesswoman.

Third, I gained more friends, I have a new family at church and thats why I give all my thanks to the one and only God, Jesus Christ for the blessings he had pourned on me this year. All the glory and honor to him.

Actually, I have so many things to thank about even the trials and problems, I still thank God for it. God has been faithful. I pray that 2010 will be another great year for me.

Until my breath runs dry,  I will sing to you, praise you, adore you until we finally meet Lord. I will wait for you.

Why Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus

Why Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus

Santa lives at the North Pole…

     JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh…
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year…
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies…
     JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited…
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa…
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap…
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”…
JESUS knew our name before we were born.  Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly…
JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO…
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says “You better not cry”…
JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa’s little helpers make toys…
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but…
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree…
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.

We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.

Putting back Christ this CHRISTMAS!

Photobucket

If Christmas <Middle English Cristemas, from Old English Crīstes mæsse: Christ’s festival > is to be called depending on how it is practiced today, I could think of the names: Santamas <festival of santa>. Giftmas <festival of gifts>. Lightmas <festival of lights>. hmmmm… murag pangit paminawon. Dapat jud Christmas <Festival of Christ>.

Seriously.

It is apparent that a Christless Christmas has been dominating the modern-day yuletide. This season seems to have been stuffed with gift-giving, decorating, partying, festive eating, get-together, shopping.. what else? There is definitely nothing wrong with those stuff. There just have to be something more meaningful and something profound other than the celebration.

“A lot of the Christmas celebration is a nostalgic veneer that doesn’t really connect very deeply theologically,” says Mary Helene Rosenbaum, head of Dovetail Institute for Interfaith Family Resources, based in Boston, Ky. (USA Today)

Christmas, as it is very obvious, is for Christ- His coming from the highest of highs to the cursed cross.

Michael Horton, a professor of theology and an associate pastor shares in his book Christless Christianity: The Alternative Gospel of the American Church. that Christmas without the specter of the cross, without awareness that this is a baby born to die for mankind’s sins, is a fancied-up fraud. (USA Today)

Christ has been relegated to the peripherae as Santa is being considered the ‘Father of Christmas.’

“Santa becomes a substitute for Christ. It’s hard to imagine Santa returning to judge the human race and consign anyone to hell. But that (judgment) is what Jesus came to save us from,” says Horton, who tells his children Santa works for Jesus.

Donate a Bible

Photobucket

Today, there are still many youths who does not own a bible. I can see some youths bringing a small pocketsized New Testament bible in the church and I can feel that they are very interested in reading the Word of God but does not have a complete bible with the Old and New Testaments maybe because of financial constraints. The cheapest Bible is the New Living Translation (NLT) version at National Bookstore which I have owned 1 for only less than P200. Its a great bible especially for devotional, the english is well understood for Filipino readers and the text are larger compared to other bibles.

I just thought of a project that would really help the youth or young people to know more about Jesus through his word the Bible. If anyone of you out there in the world, if you have extra or unused bible, you can store it in your shelf or donate it to someone else who is eagerly wants to read it. In this way, the gospel will be spread through out the world.  Isn’t it great?
