Onboard Cebu Pacific’s flight to Legaspi, I could see below from my window how strong the waves are. The news must be right that a low pressure area has been forming near northern Philippine sea that would bring scattered rain showers and would mean disaster in my iterenaries in Legaspi.
Legaspi City is an hour trip from Cebu, it is popularly known as home of the Philippines’ bet to the New 7 Wonders, Mt Mayon. Unfortunately, my trip was a failure, I did not see Mt Mayon even its foothills, the bunch of thick Columbus clouds covered the whole mountain. This would certainly mean that I’ll be back in Legaspi anytime soon.
Legaspi is the center commerce in Bicol. It is a bustling city with still lots of potential for growth and development. It also the regions top tourist destination. Moving around Legaspi is easy, there are lots of jeeps and tricycles mostly serves the inner baranggays and a number operates around the city at night. Before the drizzle becomes full blown storm, I had a quick walking tour around the city.
Just near the city hall is St Gregory church. A beautiful landmark in the city.
Since the rain has started, I was stucked at LCC Mall, its a huge mall but not as big as Pacific Mall. Legaspi is showing signs of being a competitive city due to the new ambitious Embarkadero and Misibis developments but what Im really excited about is their new airport located nearby town of Daraga.
