With just 2 days off duty and on a low budget, I went to Singapore for a quick weekend getaway.
Singapore is just a 3 hours away from the Philippines by air. It is very famous for shopping but I’m not going there to shop but to enjoy the sceneries, buildings and just rest from my stressful job. Right after, my SkyAdventure Experience in Cebu, that night is my flight to Singapore and my ticket is just priced at P400 round trip from Cebu Pacific during their Christmas promo last year. Isn’t that cool? I was supposed to go in Jakarta however due to time constraints, I had to cancel that trip. The first time I was in Singapore was last 2003 with my mom and this time, I’m doing solo backpacking.
Arrived in Singapore’s budget terminal about 12midnight and spend at least 40 minutes waiting in line for the immigration procedures to be completed. Warning to all travellers, its prohibited to take pictures in the terminal. An immigration officer bashed me infront of the people because I was documenting everything on the terminal. It was very rude.
At the Budget terminal, you don’t have to worry if you don’t have Singapore dollar because Money Changer and ATM’s are available at the terminal. Once outside, wait for the FREE Shuttle Van service to Terminal 2/3. There you can take MRT for less than $2 compared riding a taxi coz taxi’s by now charge additional fee. You can be charged $20-30 by then but if your on a group, it would be just fine.
MRT operates from 5AM to 11PM only so you wont be able to catch it if your on Cebu Pacific flight like mine. To save, you can just explore the collosal airport terminals 2 and 3. You can eat at the 24hour restaurant and try this, you can sleep in the seats just what I did and after that. By the time you wake up, MRT is already operating.

You can try my suggestions if you don’t have enough money to travel. lols. Its 5:30PM and MRT is now open for business. Since the ticket counter is not yet open, you can use the ticketing machine just like a vendo machine. Ask some locals if you don’t know how to use it. You will change trains to get to the city. Singapore businesses are opens at 10 in the morning. It would be very quiet on the streets if you go very early. Sunrise at 7AM.
Looking for a cheap thrill this summer? Visit Lake Agco in Kidapawan.
Today I went to Lake Agco, a local tourist spot and a popular place for camping in Kidapawan City. The place is expected to be jumpacked next month for the Holy Week Celebration. Lake Agco is also the starting point for mountaineers who wishes to climb Mt. Apo. Many prefer this trail because its the quickest and the safest way to the top. A lot of changes have been made from the first time I visited this place during my elementary days. Among the popular attractions here are the boiling sulfuric lake and the hot and cold springs.
Lake Agco is the evidence that Mt Apo is an active volcano because of its boiling mud lake. Its not only in New Zealand where you can have a healing sulfuric mud bath. Going here is less than an hour from Kidapawan, local jeepneys and habal habal can take you here.
Construction is still on going to develop the site.
What better way to start summer than going to the beach. Well everyone thinks of the white powdery beaches of Boracay, Panglao, Phuket or Maldives but why not try Siloso Beach in Singapore. Yes, this small island state is more famous for endless shopping but this time let Siloso Beach sizzle your summer, this might be the “hottest” beach destination this year. Trust me and you will know why. Let me officially open summer 2009.
A slice of paradise right in our doorstep, Sentosa offers a kaleidoscope of attractions and activities. Once you step afoot the island, be mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of the lush greenery peppered with exciting attractions that will certainly blow you away! It’s a themed attraction, tropical resort, nature park and heritage centre all rolled into one. Soon, it will have Universal Studios Theme Park which is set to open in 2010. Getting here is very easy. Sentosa Station is located at VivoCity Shopping Mall just at the Harbourfront MRT station, you won’t miss it. The cheapest and the quickest way would be the Sentosa Express Monorail for $3. If you have more budget try the Cable Car or the Bus.
Siloso Beach is one of the 3 beaches in Sentosa. It is one of the coolest beach destination this summer, great way to chill, enjoy the sun and the hot Singaporeans. Probably its cheap to go to a gym in Singapore, six packs and bikinis are everywhere, it will really heat you up. You don’t see this more often in Boracay. This is why it keeps me coming back to Sentosa. You just can’t get off your eyes especially when their playing volleyball or frisbee. They night not have parasailing or diving activities, you don’t need them there.

A new attraction rises up in Cebu and should never be missed by anyone. Its the SkyExperience adventure at Crown Regency Hotel and Towers in Cebu and this is also the Philippines tallest hotel tower, isn’t that amazing? They offer 2 thrill rides; Skywalk and the Edge Coaster. The adventure starts at a very affordable price P800 good for 2 persons. Luckily, I was given a student pass for only P600+ courtesy of an agent from Club Ultima.
This adventure opens at 2PM to 2AM daily and earlier during weekends.
SKYWALK EXTREME
This is one of its kind and its only right here in Cebu, Philippines.

Ilocos is one of the most beautiful provinces I’ve ever been but contrary to that is how ugly their airport is. Laoag City International Airport is the main airport of the province, it has regular flights to Manila from PAL and Cebu Pacific, they also have regular chartered flights to the mainland China. It is a popular tourist destination among Chinese and Taiwanese perhaps due to the geological location between Laoag, China or Taiwan.
An airport is the first and the last image of a tourist and they say first impression last then perhaps the beauty of Ilocandia might be affected by the airports structure. It lacks the comfort of modern technology. Ilocos deserves a new standard international perhaps not worldclass but new like Iloilo, Bacolod and Davao.
