Its really difficult to find a job now especially for us new nurses. I graduated my bachelors degree more than a year ago or May 2006 and earned my license as a registered nurse last January 2007. They say that the Philippines has a nursing shortage, its true that some hospitals really have shortage but the problem is that they don't hire nurses perhaps due to cost cutting measures in sacrifice of the patients seeking quality health care. By early next year, 30,000 are expected to be new nurses in the country, welcome to the world of unemployed.
As of now, I still don't have work. Luckily I was able to complete and passed all my exams, NCLEX and IELTS and my training at Davao Medical Center. Mahirap na maging tambay. I lodged my application at Davao Doctors Hospital and for a training program at Brokenshire Hospital and both hospitals did not call me for any appointment. I even tried to follow up my application and they replied to wait for their text message only to find out that some of the newer applicants got the job while me I applied 6 months ago still insist to wait for their text. It hurts and its really unfair. I really wanted to serve pa naman the sick and the well, taking about Hendersons Theory. hehe.
I was thinking that there might be something wrong with my resume or my cover letter. As of now, I lost my hope at Davao Doctors and Brokenshire that they would accept me. Some said that those hospitals prioritize their own products from their nursing school. Well, I am just a graduate of a non-popular school in North Cotabato. My last hope is my application at Davao Medical Center which I lodge last September 2007 and hopefully by the end of this month I will receive a call from them. By that time, the so called Employment ban due to the recent Baranggay elections will be over and the hiring opportunities continues. Oh Lord. Help me.
Naawa na ako sa Mom ko coz I'm still so dependent financially. Like every week, I ask from some money for my expenses here in Davao. Supposedly, I should have a work by now. If there's any opportunity like for Saudi Arabia I would grab it but another problem is where do I get the experience.
There are now more than 500,000 nurses in the Philippines and the number still continue to skyrocket as new board passers will mushroom next January 2008 when the results of the December 2007 will be released. Certainly, nurses are the fastest growing profession. The competition gets tougher and tougher. More and more professional nurses will be unemployed. The transition now is really slow perhaps due to the retrogression in America where the immigration process are halted for the mean time.
So, if I still don't get a job by next Month, probably I will continue my training at Davao Medical Center and enroll my Masters Degree in Nursing. Yipee!

Posted by chuchucaracas at November 20, 2007, 2:17 amI heard from my wife who is a nurse that hospitals are careful in hiring CG and Nclex passers. Some even require contracts.
I hope that the retrogression ends. We’re almost there na.

dito they needs nurses or any nursing aid…..
wla kasi dito gusto na ganitong wrks kasi first sa time at mora daw ang salary……
para sa atin, ok na, lalo na tayo are very pasensiyado and very lovable n caring,……may tiyaga tayo sa mga may sakit, hindi kagaya sa kanila….hay mahirap na magsabi….
‘DonĀ“t worry, maka landed ka ra ug job….you will see,…..wala pa….pero maabot ra na….
Posted by vk at November 26, 2007, 1:26 amInterview ko na bukas at DMC!
Posted by marcopolo at December 17, 2007, 10:57 pmYung friend ko was a new graduate as in kapapasa pa lang nang boards…he said he owes his job right now to “effort”. He applied for a CI job sa isang school, normally they’ll get someone with experience na sa teaching. But he was very determined to get the job which was why he was chosen over the other with “experience” na.
I think you should be more aggresive. Even here sa bansa natin, mahirap magkatrabaho.
Hmn..have you considered going here in manila? I think there are a lot of jobs here. Even call centers hire nurses..you can do that while you’re looking for a “real” job. Godbless ^^
