Nurse on Duty

The day after the Philippine election, I started my work as a nurse trainee here at Davao Medical Center. Like any other companies, we were first oriented to the hospital regarding the rules, set up, policies as well as some issues most especially on controlling infectious disease. Since nurses are in close contact with patients, nosocomial or hospital acquired infection is inevitable. This is the fact that I most dread about. 

So after 3 days we went on orientation, last Friday (May 18th) was the moment of truth for me. That was the first time that I practice my career without a clinical instructor beside me although we are still under the supervision of the head nurse. My first clinical rotation was at the MED-CP or the Communicable disease pavillion. What a great way to start a rotation.

I have heard alot of things about MED-CP. Most people find the ward so disgusting and highly contagious. Incidence of tuberculosis, pneumonia, hepatitis and rabies are all in the ward however little by little, the ward became my instant favorite. The cases are so rare and interesting for me because during my student years, I wasnt able to handle such highly feared diseases. However, thanks to the very warm and accommodating staff, I feel that my career as a  nurse will grow if I work with them. They are so supportive and friendly as well.

Living in an Urban jungle

Everytime I go out in Davao I always carry a small bag, sometimes people refer it as a man-purse coz its function similar with its femme counterparts but ofcourse different designs and color. I say it is an essential and convenient way to bring along especially if your living in an urban jungle. However, whats inside my bag? 

You see Im just a simple person. I dont carry much and sometimes people call it KIKAY KIT but  I prefer calling it SURVIVAL PACK!

BLACK and WHITE

Ohh this is just another crazy thoughts thats been hovering around my mind which bothers me alot. Well, lately I dont really like looking at my face in the mirror because it gives me a little ounce of depression lang naman, not totally becoming a full-blown disorder. Anyway, this is about actually concerning my physical appearance, I feel and look so ugly now than way before in my own honest observation. 

Perhaps this could be traced after I concluded our Red Cross Seminar on Water safety which involved swimming activities. Although I had so much learning that day, I also devoloped skin darkening. Haha. Even though its just a simple problem, I cant deny it that sometimes it lowers my self esteem. I guess this brings us to the concept that " ALL FILIPINO's WANT TO BE WHITE".

I never dreamed to be white, I just want is a clear-fair-light complexion so trying to pursuit that I was lured to use papaya soaps and lotions that claimed to lighten the skin. However, since college siguro I used gallons of lotions still there's no realistic result but even more worst. Hahaha.
