Short trip back home

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

I arrived at Kidapawan City  yesterday around 1:30PM and I immediately worked on my clearances from the court and fiscal as part of my additional requirements on my training experience at Davao Medical Center. My mom came with me during that time to help me speed up my clearances because she has so many friends in that offices. So finally, I was able to comply with all the requirements and hopefully by monday I will pass all the requirements.

Moving on, Im ambivalent with regards to my work since this would be my first time experience outside school. I felt anxious now because I dont know what to expect considering also the voluminous patients DMC cater which is unparalleled compared to my undergrad experience here in the province of Cotabato. However, I am also feeling elated because I could really practice my profession.  Most of my friends have already worked and I envy them so much for their new acquired skills even though I spent my past months reviewing for foreign nursing exams.

Wow, this would really be a challenge for me. I chose the General ward training and perhaps later on shift into the next level probably on perioperative nursing or emergency room nursing. On the other hand, my most dreaded area ever is the Maternal and Child nursing. Hope and pray that I won't commit any accidents especially in giving medications. I recall the issue happened last month when a student nurse accidentally gave a potassium chloride (KCl) bolus to an infant. We all know that KCl is the substance used in lethal injection and must not be given in bolus. Whew! Im glad some concepts are still fresh on my mind.

This morning, I attended a Christening ceremony with a mass to my inaanak held at Barracks, Kidapawan City. It was stupid for me to place my gift on a "Happy Birthday" paper bag. Haha. After the mass, we had a buffet lunch at their home. Another Christian is born in the world. Congratulations.

My special someone arrived here in Kidapawan to join the celebration. We had so much fun eventhough I havent had the chance to kiss him because of the fast turn over of events that transpired this day.  No regrets!
