A week ago, I had the courage to have my snoring problems examined by a physician. According to my mom, I have a really loud noisy snoring which bother her so much. Back at Kidapawan, we have a big home and I usually sleep at the 2nd floor, amazingly my mother can still hear my snoring from the bottom floor. What I have researched about snoring is that it may indicate a potential heart problem however the most dreaded effect of it when the moment we have a sleep apnea or the time that we actually dont breath for a while which is dangerous since our brain needs continuous supply of oxygen so failure to supply oxygen to the brain can cause irreversible destruction of the neurons.
With that knowledge in mind as I gained it through my nursing profession, it certainly requires some medical expertise to get it fixed. First I went to a ENT specialist at Davao Doctors Hospital. Well, the doctor didnt keep us waiting, he has this telescopic gadget which I believe is a endoscope to view my nasal opening. According to him that I have an enlarged tonsils that needs to be removed called tonsilectomy. In denial, I went to another doctor to have a second opinion, still at the same hospital at second floor. She visualized my oropharynx but she said my tonsils were not enlarged nor inflamed. So she referred me to the doctor that told me I had enlarged tonsils.
So skeptical and in denial with the situation, I decided again to visit another ENT Specialist at San Pedro Hospital. The doctor was so witty and she attested again that I dont have an enlarged tonsils, my case was the condition wherein my airway is just small. So she suggested that before we do any operation, my snoring must be assessed first through a sleep clinic only found in Manila. I liked her idea coz she opted to do some more test than to immediately do operation.
Last 2 days, my 2 close girl friends, Hannah and Karen decided to have a sleep over on my apartment and witnessed again how terrible is my snoring problem is. This is embarrasing, I told them next time to record it so that I will beleive them.
are you overweight? baka sleep apnea. taking your tonsils out will definitely improve the situation, i think. hehe
