Goodbye NZ

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I slept last night at Tower Inn Hotel in Davao to have a great preparation to my IELTS examination. Right, I had a comfortable sleep and a hearty breakfast however I'm not that happy with the outcome of my IELTS exam earlier this morning at Grand Regal Hotel. In the beginning of the exam which is Listening, I was pretty confident to have high score and fair for the reading exam although I have so much difficulty on the last part of the exam. The article was about photography which is not interesting to read about.

The most grueling part was the writing task. The questions were just simple, its about "doing business and shopping without face to face contact and the social effects of this towards the individual and the person". In the start of my essay, I focused on the convinience of the person and the internet. All of a sudden after hearing the time left, I went into severe anxiety because I still have one more writing exercise to do.

IELTS exam

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

This coming saturday will be my 2nd International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam , the first time I took it was when I went abroad for a holiday and this time around it will be held at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City. I started reviewing last March 2 at Vision Keepers Review Center for IELTS. We were given so many drills and exercises and fortunately I ended up with smiles on my face almost all the time. However, the very difficult module for me is reading where sometimes I could get a band score of 6. On the other hand, my favorite is speaking and listening. But hopefully, I could get an overall score of 7 to qualify me in New Zealand.

Getting fit

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Gaining weight in Davao is inevitable, who could resist its cheap buffets and fastfoods are almost in every corner. Certainly, Davao is a food haven for those gastronomic people like me. In fact, this is the best thing about Davao aside from its relatively safe environment I suppose. Hahaha. Last week was the Araw ng Dabaw so dieting was temporarily halted as I voraciosly eat everywhere especially when my special someone came to town.

Right, bla bla. Like duh. So I enrolled at Smashfille Fitness Center and indeed this is one the best gyms Ive been to even internationally. It smelled world class, they got this beautiful lobby and once you enter the main gym, a free internet rolls in for its members. Unfortunately, the sauna was not functioning. Overall, I would rate it as one of the best.

Whattaweek

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

This has been a great week for me. A lot of things I really enjoyed doing especially my boyfriend came to town for a holiday from a hectic work back in the province. It was such an amazing experience since for almost a month we haven't seen each other however thanks to the cheap communication today especially MMS feature we can still view each others faces. We are done with Globe and permanently switched to SMART for their MMS rate of P1.00.

We joined our friends celebration at Mergrande Beach Resort for an overnight buffet party however the weather wasn't really that cooperative, there was a heavy rain back then which lasted nearly 10PM, our plans of videoke were junked badly. After we woke up, we gladly joined trhe Araw ng Dabaw celebrations, we roamed around Davao's Mall and Ukay ukay stalls. We also helped our friend update her friendster at Kasagingan Coffee.

Doctor shopping

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

A week ago, I had the courage to have my snoring problems examined by a physician.  According to my mom, I have a really loud noisy snoring which bother her so much. Back at Kidapawan, we have a big home and I usually sleep at the 2nd floor, amazingly my mother can still hear my snoring from the bottom floor. What I have researched about snoring is that it may indicate a potential heart problem however the most dreaded effect of it when the moment we have a sleep apnea or the time that we actually dont breath for a while which is dangerous since our brain needs continuous supply of oxygen so failure to supply oxygen to the brain can cause irreversible destruction of the neurons.

With that knowledge in mind as I gained it through my nursing profession, it certainly requires some medical expertise to get it fixed. First I went to a ENT specialist at Davao Doctors Hospital. Well, the doctor didnt keep us waiting, he has this telescopic gadget which I believe is a endoscope to view my nasal opening. According to him that I have an enlarged tonsils that needs to be removed called tonsilectomy. In denial, I went to another doctor to have a second opinion, still at the same hospital at second floor. She visualized my oropharynx but she said my tonsils were not enlarged nor inflamed. So she referred me to the doctor that told me I had enlarged tonsils.

The Phoenix Post

Friday, March 9th, 2007

After month long absence from cyberspace.

Blogging has once become a part of my life since I first discovered it 2 years ago. My previous blog certainly sparked praises and also criticisms to the extent that it almost break me into pieces. I'm so proud of it because it reached almost 15,000 page views by more than 30 countries worldwide as the statistics have shown, well I hope I could regain or even break that record in 2 quarters or so with your help.

What to expect in the future posts? Well, I couldn't help it but perhaps the controversies might still continue and still blog as always is the daily documentation of my cycle of life.
